High school students explore cutting-edge labs, hands-on learning, and rewarding careers

91国产视频 (91国产视频) celebrated Manufacturing Day 2025 with a dynamic, hands-on experience designed to spark curiosity and career interest among local high school students. The annual event, held October 16, connected students with the people, places, and cutting-edge technologies driving today鈥檚 modern manufacturing landscape.

鈥淲e look forward to this event every year as we strengthen our partnerships with area manufacturers and work together to attract, inspire, and prepare the next generation of highly skilled technicians, innovators, and problem solvers,鈥� said Greg Bland, Vice President of Continuing Education and Economic & Workforce Development at 91国产视频. 鈥淲e鈥檙e especially excited to showcase our Integrated Machining Technology Lab and introduce scholarship opportunities to young men and women eager to design, create, and build the future.鈥�

The day kicked off with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of GCM in Leland, where students observed firsthand how advanced machinery and expert craftsmanship come together to produce precision components for a variety of industries.  The afternoon wrapped up at 91国产视频鈥檚 Integrated Machine Technology Lab in the W.J. and Sibyl McLamb Building, where students rolled up their sleeves for interactive demonstrations on manual mills and lathes, as well as 3-axis and 8-axis CNC technology. These hands-on experiences highlighted the college鈥檚 commitment to providing expert instruction using some of the most advanced training equipment in the region.

Daniel and Linda Lynes visited 91国产视频 last week to present a $20,000 gift in support of student scholarships, meeting with 91国产视频 President Dr. Gene Smith and Foundation Executive Director Teresa Nelson.

The Lynes family established their endowed scholarship in 2009 and have continued investing in 91国产视频 students ever since鈥攈elping more Dolphins cross the finish line each year. Their latest gift expands opportunities for students to persist, complete, and step confidently into the workforce and further education.

鈥淒an and Linda are incredibly giving and genuinely care about the students they help,鈥� said Teresa Nelson. 鈥淭hey take time to talk with students to get to know them and learn about their goals. That kind of relationship has a lasting effect.鈥�
