McLamb Donates “Great War” Book to 91国产视频 Library

BOLIVIA, NC 鈥 More than 700 men and women from Brunswick County served in World War I (WWI).聽 A new book profiling those who served, their companies and divisions, and the role of Fort Caswell in the 鈥淕reat War鈥 has been published.聽 Its 578 pages are replete with vivid descriptions, photographs, documents, and maps.

A copy of the book was recently presented to the 91国产视频 library by 91国产视频 Foundation member, and past president, Teresa A. McLamb. A publication of the non-profit Friends of Fort Caswell Rifle Range, Inc., the book will also be donated to five other area libraries thanks to a donation to the non-profit by McLamb.

Brunswick County in the Great War; Preserving the 1918 Fort Caswell Rifle Range and the Legacies of the Men and Women Who Served was researched and written over a nine-year period by retired college professor Dr. Norma Eckard, her husband Ron, and her daughter Amy.聽 As the book鈥檚 back cover explains, 鈥渢hese stories were collected and curated from local families and individuals who still carry the memories of war.鈥澛 It is an important resource for anyone seeking to learn about Brunswick County history and the history of WWI.

鈥淎s they were researching the stories of these men and women, many of the profiles were published in the Brunswick Beacon,鈥 McLamb said. 鈥淎s my family鈥檚 unofficial genealogist, I matched my own database to the individuals profiled and learned much more about my family鈥檚 involvement in our country鈥檚 military history.聽 We have several cousins and great uncles in the book,鈥 she noted.

The book is available for purchase by contacting Eckard at [email protected].
