ERT Formula E Team determined but realistic ahead of Season10
Silverstone/Shanghai - 10 January 2024
The ERT Formula E Team goes into Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship this weekend excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead, but the newly rebranded outfit knows it’ll be a hard-fought season with the Formula E Gen3 car’s homologation cycle locked in for its second year.
The team showed some great turns of speed last season, making it through to the qualifying duels eight times, showing that its ERT X24 was a fast car in qualifying trim, and also matched the team’s previous best race result when Sérgio Sette Câmara finished fifth at the Hyderabad E-Prix in February.
ERT had a strong start to last year, but as the only manufacturer not able to benefit from having a satellite programme, and also with a limited budget compared to its larger OEM-supported rivals, the in-homologation development battle provides an uphill challenge as greater resources allows its rivals more development opportunities.
With the car’s homologation locked-in for Season 10, the team expects a tough but interesting season, and will seek to deploy some alternative strategies as it embraces some of the newer regulations for this season including the likely introduction of in-race fast-charging later in the year.
The team enjoys consistency in its driver line-up for season 10 for the first time, with both Câmara and Dan Ticktum retained for the 2023-2024 season.
The season promises to be an exciting one for the championship with the leadership of new CEO Jeff Dodds, under whom the team sees a positive future ahead, and with the introduction of exciting new venues in Tokyo - Japan, and importantly the addition of a home race for the team at the Shanghai International Circuit in China in May.
In addition to an exciting season of racing ahead, ERT (one of only six Formula E manufacturers) remains busy with the ongoing development of its upcoming Gen 3.5 car. The team anticipates making another leap forward in Season 11 at the start of the next homologation cycle, with a significant improvement to its current powertrain efficiency reaching maturity already.
